WHO WE ARE
The Principals of 3rd Coast Books LLC. have a combined 65 years of experience in the book publishing industry and have observed this business from every conceivable angle. We have witnessed many radical changes in the publishing industry, some for the better and some for the worse. We felt that the royalty structure was upside down with the author getting the “short end of the stick.” At 3rd Coast Books LLC., we aim to rectify that imbalance.
Ron Mumford
Publisher/Author
As the Publisher, I am the author advocate of our company. I have self-published, been published by small Indie presses, and spent a ton of money on well-wishing agents, website designers, and book marketers. No More! Every publishing company should have an author with decision-making capacity on its staff. I have written several books in different genres: Christian Non-Fiction, Fantasy (a trilogy), and an Action-Thriller. I want to see my books, and every 3rd Coast author’s books, marketed so both authors and the publisher receive the royalties and recognition they deserve.
I was a Journalism major at the University of North Texas, then worked for several newspapers and magazines, and was later a Combat Correspondent/Combat Photographer in the U.S. Army where I received two Bronze Stars. Writing is in my blood.
3rd Coast’s hybrid publishing charges are the lowest available on the market. Every penny we receive goes to pay our Editorial Review Board, Beta Readers, Cover Artists, Editors, Text Flow Technicians, ePub technicians, and our professional marketing platforms, which engage readers in over 50 countries.
I personally call each author before signing their publishing contract to get ideas of their cover design and answer any and all questions that they may have. Send your submissions to us, they will be reviewed and you will have an answer in a short time. We like Amazon Create Space and KDP who own 83% of the book market. Self-Publishing on Amazon, which I have done, just leaves your book among 2.2 million other books. Without mass marketing, there are little or no book sales.
Ian gorman
Associate Publisher/Editor for UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
I am proud to be 3rd Coast Books’ Associate Publisher focusing on the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Born in the UK and graduating with a B.Sc. in Science from the University of Glasgow, I emigrated to the USA in 1989 and earned an MBA at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Soon after graduating, I relocated to Houston, Texas.
I first met Ron Mumford, Publisher of 3rd Coast Books LLC, nearly 20 years ago at a Public Relations firm in Houston, Texas. I was Chief Editor over the Writers and Media Placement teams as well as company CFO. My editorial duties included the production of press releases and by-line articles.
My career then moved into the grant writing and management field first as an Institute Financial Director at Texas Southern University and later as County Grant Coordinator at Harris County (Houston, Texas). During this period, I became involved in editing academic papers and presentations for the Institute Director, often rewriting documents for use with various target audiences. After 23 wonderful years in the USA, I moved back to the UK to assist my family following the untimely death of my father.
My goal is to increase both the number and scope of clients and projects handled at 3rd Coast Books LLC, thereby expanding our global presence. I enjoy Military History, Science Fiction, and Fantasy genres along with Autobiographical works. Also, I enjoy working with Film/TV Producers and Directors marketing our authors’ creations.
